Newton’s Emissions and Goals

Newton’s Milestones and Goals

We have two overarching goals which guide all of the strategies and actions outlined in Newton’s Climate Action Plan 2.0: (1) a carbon-neutral Newton by 2050, and (2) a more resilient community in the face of a changing climate.

The State’s 2030 greenhouse gas emissions milestones are instructive as we seek to measure our progress. We can derive Newton’s share of the State target based on our overall percentage of households in the state, which is 1.2%.

In addition to these milestones, the City has set goals for other key metrics in the Plan. Goals will continue to be set as more data becomes available.
